CS Karishma Pandey
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7915955
Abstract
Certificate
Women Empowerment is a major social phenomenon which requires an understanding of its multi-dimensional influence on the society and counterparts of Society. Corporate Sector forms a major part as it involves social economic factors. In today’s corporate world Women are competing at par with their male peer and are also recognizing their talent and providing equal opportunities to them but Companies still are facing challenges of managing its women employees which has become a critical and significant issue in every organization. Women empowerment helps in reduction of poverty and achieving global targets in meeting Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The corporate firms are playing a significant role in empowering women through different ways and means to get organizational benefit as well as countries benefit. The study describes the factors influencing women empowerment, which in turn helps to increase the women empowerment to determine the status and benefits of women empowerment in corporate sector. The study found that the empowerment of Women in the organization provides the benefits of self-reliance and financial independence. Women lacks political stability and this may be due to male dominance prevailing in the politics of corporate and so only, few could reach the management and leadership positions. Companies can concentrate on special training facilities to women as a part of corporate social responsibility for enhancing their skills and confidence levels. To ensure that their skills and experience are fully used in policymaking at all levels, capacity-building efforts should pay attention to the needs of women. Many women after attaining qualified professional degrees cannot work due to family pressure, loaded responsibility etc. True Women Empowerment is help seeking jobs to women who have not worked for years and are facing lot of hardships starting fresh.
Moreover, women must be economically and socially empowered through focussed efforts. Statistics showed the overall picture of gender inequality in India is stark and the way out is not to camouflage reality by resolving to tokenism and parading exceptions, but tackling problems head on. But mere Government intervention is not enough. Better results can be produced by determined women citizens empowering themselves and being encouraged to do so by enlightened segments of society and public opinion. Government of India's policy on women development has undergone various shift of emphasis since independence. The most significant changes occurred during the Fifth Five Year Plan with the shift from welfare to development. During the Eighth Plan, there was a renewed emphasis on development of women as equal partners in the development process. Today, with focus on inclusive growth, there is a heightened awareness about inclusiveness and empowerment. Women need to empower themselves from below, and this calls for a change of values and behaviour and the need for economic empowerment. All problems centre around inequality and therefore, steps to promote equality of treatment and full integration of women in the development of the country must be promoted.

Kamala Das is one of the leading Indian English woman poets who writes with strong feminist perspective. Her poetry discovers the best articulation of feminine sensibility and its suppression in a male dominated society. Kamala Das’s poems exhibits courage and a determined spirit through her inherent creative ability to fight against the illogical traditional norms that are designed to dominate women. Her bold and fearless exhibition of self is incomparable and therefore she is an inspiration for every Indian woman to fight for her own rights, empowerment, self-identity, self-dignity and equality of status. KUDUMBASHREE – A PROJECT FOR WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Dr. Mary Varghese
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919050
Abstract
Certificate
Women’s empowerment has five components: women’s sense of self –worth; their right to have and to determine choices; their right to have access to opportunities and resources; their right to have power to control their own lives, both within and outside the home, and their ability to influence the direction of social change to create a more just social and economic order, nationally and internationally. Women’s empowerment will enhance the quality and quantity of human resources available for development. Neighbourhood Groups (NHGs) are the primary units of the Kudumbashree community organisation. Ten to twenty women from a neighbourhood form a NHG. Kudumbashree, a community organization of Neighborhood Groups (NHGs) of women in Kerala, has been recognized as an effective strategy for the empowerment of women in rural as well as urban areas: bringing women together from all spheres of life to fight for their rights or for empowerment. Kudumbashree is the poverty eradication and women empowerment programme implemented by the State Poverty Eradication Mission (SPEM) of the Government of Kerala. The name Kudumbashree in Malayalam language means ‘prosperity of the family’. The name represents ‘Kudumbashree Mission’ or SPEM as well as the Kudumbashree Community Network.

IMPACT OF FINANCIAL LITERACY PROGRAMME ON FINANCIAL AUTONOMY AMONG SCHOOL GIRL’S FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Dr. Heena D. Wadhwani & Mr. Sanjay Nandi
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919069
Abstract
Certificate
Financial literacy involves an individual’s ability to interpret and understand basic financial concepts and apply that knowledge to make informed decisions related to finance in their day to day activities as also applicable as lifelong learners. As per Human Development Report 2021-22 India ranked 132 with 0.633 HDI value where 19.2% is labour force participation rate of women (age 15 & above) and 13.4 % seat share in parliament. In total population 94 is the sex ratio (2012 census) means out of 100 male members in the society women are 94, whereas National Family Health Survey 5 (2019-21) recently says its 929 i.e out of 1000 male members 929 is the number of female members exists. Hence women empowerment is the need of the hour for better development of the society and economy as a whole.
Life skill educational practices involve developing leadership, communication, collaboration, cooperation and management skills in day to day activities, all of which are extremely important for personal development of students, especially for girls. There are many benefits to being financially literate which brings more development, innovation through use of more technologies and more economic cum social prosperity. The key role students would be playing is saving, managing pocket money, understanding the power of compounding, accumulating wealth, learning debt and even retirement planning. Financially literate students are able to understand better macroeconomic problems and make informed decisions related to fiscal and monetary policies, scope and limitations of new start-ups and how to take calculated risks.
Based on this research, I would like to bring the impact of financial literacy programme on financial autonomy in school girls’ students for economic empowerment. Hence financial literacy and financial autonomy should be encouraged and practiced in school years and it should be included in school education, where students learn & engage more.

WOMEN’S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN INDIA
Adv. Rahul Dinesh Rai
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919174
Abstract
Certificate
The ratio of participation of women lawmakers in politics is a need of an hour in order to pass many unbiased and gender-neutral laws by the legislatures. As we are celebrating 75thyear of Independence as “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, we need a Mahotsav where women’s participation in politics could be equal to their male counterparts and this participation is not required to show the supremacy of women’s or to decrease the supremacy of men’s in politics, but to have equal say and share in passing any legislation. We as a union and democratic state of India must consider and hear every citizen’s voice and point of perception before making and implementing any decision so the social fabric of the country be maintained and remain intact. We will be analyzing turnouts of both male and female voters from since the first Loksabha election in India till the latest election held in the year 2019 and would be understanding the participation of women’s aselectoral as well as elected lawmakers in parliament. We will try to understand whether the participation of women in parliament is according to the population ofwomen in India and whether they have been appropriately represented in our Indian democracy and would also like to direct some suggestions in order to resolve the disbalance in the representation of women in politics, if any.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEMS AND OBSTACLES TO WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT IN INDIA
Ms. Anjali Ajay Varma & Dr. Deepika Sharma
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919196
Abstract
Certificate
The empowerment of women is currently one of the most important topics of the 21st century. Yet, women's emancipation remains a fantasy. We see in daily life how different societal ills target women as victims. A nation's social, economic, or political development will stall if women are not involved in national affairs. Women make up half of humankind and labour for 2/3rd of world’s working hours. She owns less than 1/10th of the world's resources and barely earns1/3rdof the global income. This demonstrates how miserable women's economic standing isin a country like India. Women's empowerment involves strengthening women's rights to all their social, economic, and educational requirements. Its objective is to give women access to a gender-neutral atmosphere. To give them equal rights in the workplace, family, society, and community.
The current paper seeks to examine the state of women's empowerment in India and underlines the problems and obstacles that remain. The study's conclusion states that women's empowerment is only made possible through access to education, employment, and participation in social, political, and economic life of the nation with sense of equity.

TRADITIONAL GENDER ROLES AS A CHALLENGE TO WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Diandra Pinto
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919209
Abstract
Certificate
Working class urban Indian women now comprise a large proportion of the urban workforce, however, traditional domestic gender roles remain the same. When we talk of women empowerment it more often than not implies that women who were once at home, tied to domestic work, now have the opportunity to go outside of the home and become an earning member. This is good for the economy, their families, and the society at large. What often gets overlooked in this argument is the fact that while women contribute financially to the home and the economy, it’s not as if their domestic roles have been eliminated. Infact, their duties have just been added to. While before, women had the time to rest in between their housework, now they have housework as well as office work and very little time to rest. The addition of office work for women has not led to a corresponding increase in the proportion of domestic work done by men. This is one of the big challenges in women empowerment as while it has empowered women in many ways, fatigue and physical exertion on account of additional duties has reduced overall wellbeing of women while providing an illusion of empowerment. Traditional gender roles have remained relatively unchanged despite women entering the workforce which has led to an increase in the responsibilities of women and doubled their workload.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN INDIA: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7916018
Abstract

Women represent half the entire population and one-third of the work force, they earn only one-tenth of the global income and less than one percent of world property, and does two-thirds of all working hours. Still, day in and day out, our conscience is shocked by news of the violation of human rights of women. Such an approach provides the women with a constitutional platform to stand up to men, to raise their voice on issues concerning women oppression, subjugation and related issues and thus in effect, providing them with an identity in an orthodox male dominated socio-political set up, in addition to providing a much-needed forum to seek redressal of problems directly affecting them: the true essence of empowerment. The process of empowerment is multi-dimensional and it enables women to realise their full destiny and powers in all spheres of life. A woman’s empowerment begins with consciousness—perceptions about herself and her rights, her capabilities and her potentials, awareness of how gender and socio-cultural and political forces affect her.
To come out of this darkness and to prove her worthy Empowering women was the only solution and need of the hour.

CHALLENGES IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Dr. Jyoti Ramesh Singh
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7900633
Abstract
Certificate
Women have been suppressed since centuries. India particularly has a patriarchal set up where women are seen second to men. While there is a section of our society that encourages women empowerment, people largely continue to suppress and oppress them. There are numerous barriers to the empowerment of women in India because of the mindset of some of the narrow-minded people living here. In India, women are expected to act and behave in a certain manner. Even as our nation has progressed over the time, women in our country are not truly liberated. They are still expected to stay in limits and act as per the rules defined by our patriarchal society. All this acts as a barrier to the empowerment of women in India. Day in and day out, our conscience is shocked by news of the violation of human rights of women. Such an approach provides the women with a constitutional platform to stand up to men, to raise their voice on issues concerning women oppression, subjugation and related
issues and thus in effect, providing them with an identity in an orthodox male dominated socio-political set up. The decision-makers and the hierarchy below them are also male- dominated and hence women are not considered a part of society, and the rules made only favour the men. Not just India, the world is patriarchal, but unfortunately India today is now becoming a more and more unequal society and an unsafe and unharmonious place for women. The process of empowerment is multi-dimensional and it enables women to realise their full destiny and powers in all spheres of life. A woman’s empowerment begins with consciousness—perceptions about herself and her rights, her capabilities and her potentials,

DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919787
Abstract

Women play a vital role in today's workforce and continue to break barriers, but many women experience discrimination and are ignored for senior roles because of the glass ceiling effect. Women’s empowerment can be defined to promoting women’s sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves and others. Women Empowerment helps women to take their own decisions by breaking all the limitations of the family and the society. The term "glass ceiling" is a metaphor for the barriers that women and people of colour face when striving to move upward in the workplace. Glass ceiling states both visible and invisible obstacles that stops women from proceeding to the top positions. This study is an attempt to study the glass ceiling effect and women empowerment.

India’s Constitution guarantees free primary school education for both boys and girls up to age 14. This goal has been repeatedly reconfirmed, but primary education in India is not universal. Mrs. Steffi Mark Colaco
DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919906
Abstract
Certificate
Science, technology and innovation can play a very important role in meeting internationally agreed developmental goals. However, they cannot effectively facilitate equitable and sustainable development unless the aims, concerns, situations and abilities of women as well as men are considered in formulating science, technology and innovation policies. Technology and innovation present us new opportunities that never existed before. Not only do they help progress the economy and people’s livelihood they also serve as a powerful tool to increase awareness creating space for social movements and making everyone’s voice heard. It is undeniable that technology and innovation have contributed to the democratization of access to information and opportunity. But it is true only to a certain extent. If we look closer women and girls across continents have inadequate and limited access to technology. The exclusion of women from science has been historically witnessed by the world for a long time and their participation is still not in parity of expectation. The negative attitude that is held against women pertaining to science and technology remains active due to the influence of socio-psychological parameters. The barriers to women’s access to technology and innovation lies in the structural issues, poverty, gender discrimination and digital illiteracy. The lack of such access translates to a lack of information, updates, opportunities and the skills necessary to adapt to the changing circumstances. Proper monitoring, proper informing and creating necessary work conditions in the field of science and technology can help reduce gender inequality. As the pandemic led to a surge in the use of digital technologies in education, it also revealed staggering gender gaps in access to and use of digital technology all around the world. Indeed, gender-based exclusion is present throughout the technological world. However, the pandemic showed that learning can occur anywhere and anytime. Innovative solutions are at finger tips and we have an opportunity now to leverage and grasp global experiences to deliver quality learning for gift.

DOI : 10.5281/ERJ.7919932
Abstract
Certificate
There is no denying the fact that the past three decades have witnessed a steadily increasing awareness of the need to empower women through measures to increase social, economic and political equality and broader access to fundamental human rights, improvements in nutrition, basic health and education. The present paper introduces the impact of government policies for women’s social and economic development. On the basis of the data collected the degree of empowerment is compared in the rural and urban areas. And it is measured on four indices; women’s mobility and social interaction; women’s labour patterns; women’s access to control over resources and women’s control over decision making. The critical aspect of social empowerment of women is the promotion of gender equality in which women enjoy the same opportunities, rights and obligations like men in all spheres of life. Economic development of women implies a better quality of material life through sustainable livelihoods owned and managed by women. It means reducing their financial dependence on male counterparts by making them a significant part of the human resource.
